Inspiration for my work comes from many sources……..cracks in the pavement, rusty marks on metal, damp patches on wall, but most of all from wild isolated, barren landscape………. the marks of man on the land.

My sketchbooks have always been a vital part of my work process, but drawings are drawings in their own right and I am finding that I rely less and less on them as starting points for my painting. I find I am working more intuitively, with images, memories etc., stored subliminally……..I try to dig beneath the surface, to go behind, beyond what is there, like entering another dimension, another world of reality…………………It is only when I start to push paint around on the canvas that the journey begins………….
