 It is with great sadness that we open this show without Terry, who passed away at the beginning of the month. His loss shall be felt, not only by the art world but also by his local community.Terry was a luminous character, a much loved, adopted son of Newlyn and a huge personality in the international art scene as well as here in Cornwall. It is typical of him to have kept working right up to end and to have wished for ‘the show to go on’ so to speak and we are immensely grateful to the Frost family for assisting us with this exhibition. Fiona wrote of Terry last summer: “His unique ability to allow the joy of life to emanate from his work reduces the formal qualities of painting to a simplicity that is the unforgettable trade mark of this remarkable man.” One could talk endlessly about Terry and his art but it is best to let the work speak for itself. |
