Kristin Vestgard has already created waves of interest throughout the regions art community. After her previous sell out show at Badcock's she left a mesmerised and expectant audience and has quickly become one of our most sought after young artists.

The body of work produced for her 2002 exhibition, not only lives up to the expectations that have been created, but transcends them. The sensitivity previously demonstrated, is now fortified with a maturity of intent which combines to create 'spell-like' surfaces which are laced with echoes of the past.

Kristin writes about her work:

"They appear as I go along, through a process of moving the paint around, wiping off, adding and taking away again. As a result, an underlying history is built into the canvas and a certain kind of life emerges into the faces.

"I communicate with the figures......it is quite a sensitive language, quiet, almost whispering.

"The paintings arise from memories, feelings......being nowhere, everywhere and usually in the middle of something in this life. I try to create an understanding and beauty......an inner landscape.

"......what is beautiful and light and between melancholy. Like on a beach where the waves hit the rocks......This place is very inspirational and truthful to me."
