Tracy Rees lives with her artist husband Michael in Cornwall; her studio is a shed in the garden.A rural setting. She is an observer. She observes and records animals in seemingly mundane circumstances. As she paints she captures the essense of their personality in both a humorous and sensitive manner, creating alluring and mischievous individuals. In her cats she connects with the duality of nature, wild and tame, beautiful and disturbing. There is a magical quality that is subtle and understated, reminiscent of Mary Feddon.
These works are original with an integrity and identity that sets them apart. Don't be fooled, by their humour and wit into not taking these paintings seriously. There is a quality that although quiet, shouts from every alley-cats roof top, that this is the arrival of a wonderful new talent and this work will stand the test of time.
