We always feel a sense of excited anticipation when we visit Kristin Vestgard’s studio. We are greeted by her beatific smile, strong coffee and an open door to her studio where paintings breathe a coolness. It is the cool of warmth meets chilly, like your breath on a frosty morning, that welcome us. Vestgard’s paintings are otherworldly and speak like dreams, they are of a different place that is atmosphere and almost untangible, but their physicality is fragile but definite. This exhibition concludes a period in Vestgard’s successful career which started at Falmouth Art School and where she has been based for the past 10 years and has now returned to her native land of Norway.
