The inspiration for her work is drawn from her life experiences, five years travelling, several years in Cornwall and now living in London, with its rich cultural heritage and wonderful architecture. She sites some favourite places for inspiration as Kew Gardens, V&A Museum, The Honiman Museum and Sir John Soane’s museum. Local markets in South London are also a treasure trove for sourcing the weird and wonderful to cast and incorporate into her fantastical creations. Her technique involves manipulating the clay through moulds, throwing and hand-building, and layers of rich glazes that blend together in a majolica style. Her pieces are montages of an unexpected nature, what evolves is often magical and surreal. This year she will begin an MA in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art. We anticipate great things from this highly talented young artist. A rising star in the making...
